From Earth Day and Beyond - What We’re Doing to Go Green
communityWe’re all about less in the landfill! Since our renovation ten years ago we are always looking for more ways to reduce our waste. Composting in our Food Hall has been a priority and we’re happy to announce that we now have dedicated sorting stations to help identify what goes where. We know, it can sometimes be confusing, so we’re here to help you help the planet - just in time for Earth Day!
Composting may seem complicated at first, but it's a hugely beneficial way to help lower greenhouse emissions, remove harmful CO2 microbes from the air, and ensures less garbage ends up in landfills. One easy way you can help is by bringing your food waste from the Food Hall to one of our sorting stations. From there we will take care of the rest of the dirty work by sorting through the garbage, recycling, and compost and disposing of it to ensure all waste is dealt with correctly.
As part of our promise to do our part in reducing our carbon footprint, we’ve made more of an effort to help make a greener, eco-friendly community. Since the beginning of March, we’ve diverted 4,936 lbs of compost and liquids from landfills. That’s all thanks to people like you who have brought your waste to the designated sorting stations in the Food Hall.
By using less energy and producing less waste - you can help reduce your own carbon footprint, and there are plenty of ways to live more sustainably. From using reusable alternatives, donating unused items, or using eco-friendly cleaning products! Want to know what else we’re doing to stay green! Learn more about our green initiatives here.
