Lip Masks; do they live up to all the hype?

wellness

No matter the season, our lips always seem to take a beating. Whether it is the sun’s intense rays, our fierce prairie winds or the extreme cold - dry, cracked lips are a problem we are always trying to solve. Thankfully, lip masks have been making an appearance for a few seasons now and we wanted to put them to the test to see if they are really the solution to this everyday problem. We compared 7, from high-end beauty to drugstore lines, and are sharing our reviews so that you can enjoy smooth, supple lips all year round.

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream Intensive Lip Repair Balm

This Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream has a lovely, slightly citrus scent. The texture is a bit sticky although it was smooth to apply and barely noticeable after a short while. Our tester would wake up to soft lips and after using it for a few weeks, their lips felt better than they had in years, with no cracking or dryness. They would recommend it to others, it’s a keeper.

Tatcha "The Kissu Lip Mask"

The Tatcha “The Kissu Lip Mask” is a beauty favourite for many people, like so many products in the Tatcha line, and now we know why. Fragrance-free, which for many is a must, the texture was smooth and luxurious, making it easy to apply, it even comes with a tiny spoon so that the product can stay clean and germ-free. A little goes a long way, one jar will see you through a few months or more making it easy to justify. Our tester could often still feel the mask on their soft lips in the morning. After a few weeks, they thought their lips felt healthier. The Kissu Lip Mask definitely gets a thumbs up.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask is a cult favourite and our reviewer is sold on it too. Strawberry scented but with little taste, the mask went on smooth and was only slightly sticky at first. This mask also has a tiny spoon to use and you don’t need much product at all and our tester could sometimes still feel it in the morning. They loved how it made their lips feel healthier and noticed a difference if they missed using it one night. They would recommend it if you appreciate luxurious skincare, especially since the jar will take you through the winter most likely.

Fresh Sugar Lip Recovery Mask

Fresh Sugar lip products have been raved about by beauty experts for years. The Sugar Lip Recovery Mask is another one quickly becoming a favourite with our tester. The scent is fresh and pleasant and the texture is smooth, not sticky or waxy. They noticed after using it for a few weeks that their lips felt softer and hydrated. They would recommend this product to get you through the tough winter ahead.

Polysporin Visible Lip Health Overnight

Our tester loves nothing better than a great product at a great price and Polysporin’s Overnight formula delivered on both. Fragrance-free and smooth to apply, it felt light on their lips without any stickiness. Their lips felt hydrated and soft in the morning, and they noticed their lipstick was easier to apply even. They would recommend this to anyone who likes a bargain that truly delivers.

Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Overnight Intensive Lip Treatment, Ultra-Conditioning Lip Care

Burt's Bees, a drugstore darling, has their Intensive Lip Treatment containing ceramide oils which are essential to keeping our skin and our lips hydrated. The light, fresh mint scent was pleasant and the texture was more like a gentle sugar scrub. Our tester’s lips felt so soft the next day, they would highly recommend it to friends.

Sephora Collection Lip Sleeping Mask

Sephora’s Lip Sleeping Mask has a wonderful hint of vanilla that makes us want to wear it all the time. Our tester found the texture to be a bit sticky but smooth. They felt their lips were soft in the morning but not as long-lasting as others. A great vegan option at a great price.

With winter here to stay for quite a while, it’s great to know we have some amazing products to help kiss your dried and chapped lips goodbye, no matter your budget. Try one of these, we know you won’t be disappointed and share any of your favourites in the comments below, we always love to hear from you.
