Colours for People Who Don’t Wear Colour

Any chance your wardrobe is about as varied as Jon Snow’s? Ya, us too. While we certainly have nothing against black, grey, and white, we’ve also been pleasantly surprised by just how good it can feel to embrace something a little less monochromatic from time to time. That said, bringing a little colour to your closet doesn’t mean you have to go straight to Lannister crimson either – break yourself in gently with these super wearable shades that are as comfortable as neutrals.

Wear burgundy:

Burgundy is super wearable, and pretty timeless. Brown boots and a soft oatmeal sweater are the perfect compliment, warming up the burgundy and just making the whole thing feel fresh and intentional. Bonus – it’s easy to match this shade to your lip colour, should you feel inclined.

Get the look:
Burgundy pants: RW&Co., $39.95
Ribbed sweater: American Eagle Outfitters, $39.95
Black trench coat: Le Chateau, $119.95
Brown heeled boots: Aldo, $110
Geometric earrings: Le Chateau, $15
Burgundy handbag: Hudson's Bay (Guess), $98

Wear green:

There’s something about this beautiful deep green that feels so elegant, even on a simple sweater. An interesting bag adds a little fun, and we’d go with a shoe or boot in a warm, soft colour here to really offset the green.

Get the look:
Green knit sweater with bell sleeves: Hudson's Bay, $59.99
Black wide-leg dress pants: RW&Co., $89.90
Green chandelier earrings: Le Chateau, $25
Green, black, and pink geometric handbag: Boes (Guess), $130

Wear navy:

Navy is perhaps the most comfortable and wearable of all actual colours, even for those among us most devoted to black. Keep navy from feeling boring or stuffy by choosing fun pieces like a cropped sweater or sherpa lined jacket.

Get the look:
Navy windbreaker with sherpa-lined collar: Garage, $59.95
Navy half-zip cropped sweater: Garage, $29.95
Distressed denim overalls: Garage, $69.95
Baseball cap: Boathouse (Adidas), $30
