3 Ways to Shake Up Your Shoe Closet
fashionLet’s face it, we’re all guilty of getting stuck in a rut from time to time. When it comes to styling, it’s sometimes just faster and easier to go with what you know – but where’s the fun in that?? We’re here to help you get a little more creative with your footwear this fall. Heels and joggers? Yep. Sneakers and your favourite mini skirt? Absolutely. The coolest Adidas kicks with an office-ready button-up? YES, PLEASE. We grabbed three pairs of shoes from Journeys that we want to wear all season long, and used them to put together three ways to shake up your shoe closet in the best way.
1. Take white Adidas runners to the office
A crisp button-up and tailored trousers might make you automatically reach for brogues, but we suggest using this as an opportunity to flex your fashion chops AND get an extra chance to wear your cool new sneaks. These white-and-gold Adidas runners are giving us all kinds of feelings and when paired with a work-ready look, they just get cooler. When it comes to finding pants that make runners and a dress shirt work together, you’ll need something that is just the right blend of fun and serious – we think these cropped trousers in a deep burgundy achieve that perfect balance. Finish off the colour play with a bright pop of pink.
2. Wear classic Converse sneakers for going out
When most of us think Converse, our minds tend to picture ripped jeans and a band tee as an obvious pairing. But if that’s not your style, don’t write off a pair of Chucks just yet. You can actually take advantage of this always-in shoe for going out – you’ll end up with a look that’s trendy and unexpected, with the added benefit of being way, way more comfortable than all your friends. For a pretty going-out look that is perfect with classic black-and-white low-top Cons, we’re loving this ensemble that plays with shades of green in contrasting textures. The sweater is meant to be a loose fit, but should hit right around the waistband of the skirt – tuck it in at the front if it ends up being a little long. Layer on metallic accessories for another contrasting texture.
3. Dress up joggers with heeled boots
A solid pair of black boots are a must for fall – especially ones with a heel. That extra few inches can magically make any look appear more pulled together, which is why we’re rocking them with an outfit that feels more casual. Army green joggers are literally our pant dreams come to life: they are insanely comfortable but trendier than jeans (just ask all the models and celebs spotted in joggers while off-duty). They are also that just-right length and tight enough around the ankle to fit into the top of the boots perfectly. To embrace fall’s now-up, now-down temperatures, we layered a cropped hoodie and warm leather jacket. Just add a pumpkin spice latte and you’re good to go!
Now that your fall shoes are sorted, how’s your denim collection looking?
