Jet-Set Style: 3 Destination Outfits

fashion

Anyone else suffering from wanderlust this winter? We can’t help but notice the daily deals at Flight Centre, and they’ve got us feeling extra-tempted to cross another city off our bucket list… and we’re not going anywhere without a few on-point outfits in our carry-on. Nobody wants to stick out as a tourist when they travel, but how do you know what’s “in” halfway around the world? We did the research for you – here’s how to stun in three of Flight Centre’s most sought-after destinations.

New York

When we think of New York, we can’t help but picture Carrie Bradshaw strutting down Fifth Avenue in a fur coat and Manolo Blahniks. Fashion has evolved since the Sex and the City days, but the Big Apple maintains its reputation as fashion capital of the world. A huge touchpoint of NYC fashion is that perfectly ‘undone’, model-off-duty look (picture Karlie Kloss hailing a cab to Sunday brunch), so we recommend mixing basics with statement pieces and piling on the layers for an effortlessly chic vibe. This structured wool jacket with leather sleeves is a deserving piece to build around, and we layered it over a grey rib-knit sweater with a long white tunic underneath for extra length and dimension. The overall effect is bit daring, and decidedly it-girl. This is a city where you're constantly walking, so if there’s a place to opt for statement boots over uncomfortable heels, it’s this one. A bright blue handbag is the perfect contrast to the otherwise neutral palette.

Berlin

From its architecture to its party scene, Berlin is a city full of liveliness and creativity. As an epicenter for self-expression, ‘anything goes’ could be listed as the German capital’s signature style, but one common theme in this artsy city is a bent toward cool and confident androgyny. A bright blue his-or-hers turtleneck is so perfectly Berlin, and looks like something we’d see Heidi Klum wearing on a trip back home. The tailored structure and crisp lines of a mid-length trench are the perfect balance to the volume of the sweater, and the slight sportiness of striped leggings. There’s just something cool and effortless about a loose sweater and tights – it says you tried, but not too hard. A textured snakeskin bag ups the cool factor even more, and a pair of classic Doc Martens will carry you through cobbled streets without skipping a beat. This look will take you from the East Side Gallery to clubbing at Berghain until 6 am.

Bangkok

For those of you who crave hot weather and drinking out of buckets (seriously, that’s a thing), there’s a good chance that Bangkok is at the top of your travel list. Since you’ll be spending most of your days near a beach, a relaxed (and heat-and-humidity-friendly) style is definitely the way to go. Wearing a long dress with wedges and a drawstring bag will help you blend right in as you explore stacks of fruit you’ve never heard of at the bustling Chatuchak market. To keep the dress from straying too far into hippie territory, slip on a pair of wedge sandals to dress it up and lengthen your legs. For a more casual approach, it would work equally well with slide-ons or gladiator sandals. Either way, this look can easily be worn day or night, which is great since you don’t want to bring too much with you – especially if you’re backpacking.

Got the travel bug yet? If you’re looking to plan a trip, we highly recommend stopping by Flight Centre to ask questions, discuss possibilities, and turn your vacation dreams into reality. Now the only question is, where to? ;)
