3 Ways to Embrace Colour This Spring

fashion

After wearing moody colours and faded neutrals all winter, it can be a shock to your system when spring colours begin to appear in your favourite stores. But don’t worry, no one expects you to turn into Katy Perry overnight. This season’s trending colours are soft, pretty, and oh-so-wearable. Work colour back into your wardrobe by adding one or two fun pieces to your look – or do what we did, and embrace the season’s chicest shades from head to toe.

Here are the hottest colours for spring:

Rose Quartz

According to the colour experts at Pantone, rose quartz is as trendy as it is pretty this spring. This light pastel pink instantly makes us feel happy, and we can already imagine it looking great with a tan this summer. We love rose quartz next to similar shades like this pale peach, but make sure to include one piece in a richer colour, like dark denim, so you don’t look washed out. And may we just add, about that old adage that redheads can’t wear pink – as you can see, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Burnt Orange

The ‘70s influence is sticking around this season, and this warm, earthy tone is a great way to wear the trend. Burnt orange is incredibly versatile, and can be treated and styled as a neutral. Another great thing about this shade is the way its warm undertones flatter nearly everyone. Since this tends to be considered more of a fall colour, we made the hue spring-appropriate by embracing its bohemian quality, reaching for a burnt orange knit tunic, suede vest, chunky sandals, and Aztec style jewellery.

Serenity

This year’s go-to blue is as calming and serene as the name suggests. Serenity has taken the fashion scene by storm, appearing on the runways of Armani, Harbison, Rachel Pally, and Emilio Sosa. The soothing hue is cool and feminine, and pairs well with other shades of blue, especially cobalt. Gold accessories are a sharp contrast and chic pop that take the look to the next level. And if you want to give Kylie Jenner a run for her lip-goddess money – bold blue lipstick is just the ticket.
