Watch: How to Get Gorgeous, Natural-Looking Brows With Just One Product
beautySure, a bold brow looks great on Instagram or for a night out, but in our day-to-day lives we don’t really have the time or inclination to be rocking a brow look that takes four different products and 20 minutes to complete – and we’re guessing you don’t either. So with those every-day selves in mind, we challenged our professional makeup artist to show us how to get a beautiful, natural-but-better brow using just one product. Watch our video to see the results, and get all the tips and tricks.
Step 1 is the right product: Geoff, our makeup artist, agrees that most people find a pencil to be most user-friendly. The key is to get a twist-up pencil with a spoolie on the opposite end; we used a MAC product here, but you can get similar products at Sephora. Choosing a colour is somewhat a matter of preference, so the best thing to do is to stop by MAC or Sephora and ask the experts to give you a hand. Our model, Madelyn, is using the MAC Eye Brows Styler in Stylized.
When you’re using the pencil, you want to make quick, short strokes that follow the direction of your hair growth, and mimic little hairs. The outer half of your eyebrow can be a little darker, while the inner corners are naturally less dense and therefore lighter. The spoolie end of the brush will allow you to soften any areas that get a little too intense, and blend everything together for a flawless final look.
It might take a little practice to get to know exactly how you like your brows, but in general, a brow pencil like this is pretty simple to use, and pretty forgiving. Give it a try, and let us know on Instagram how you like the Eye Brows Styler, or what pencil you prefer.
