The days are getting cooler and shorter, it’s time to switch up the hot summer wardrobe for Fall’s cozy looks. One item often overlooked is switching up your fragrance to something a little warmer as well. We asked our experts in St. Vital Centre to introduce us to some of their favourite new fall scents that we’re sure will become your favourites as well.

Gucci Flora is more of a relaunch than a brand new fragrance, and we are so thrilled they have brought it back. More concentrated than before, this scent is based on the Gardenia flower, so you know it will be subtle. Notes of mandarin, pear, patchouli, jasmine and frangipani balance this fruity floral, making it a beautiful everyday fragrance you will love. And with Miley Cyrus as the front person for the campaign, you know this isn’t your Mother’s old perfume.

Miss Dior Eau de Parfum

Sticking with revivals and florals, Miss Dior Eau de Parfum is an elegant fragrance, originally created in 1947 following the devastation of World War II, so the arrival of the scent made women feel renewed and happy again. Perfect timing for this new fragrance we think. Built around roses, notes of pepper, honey, lily of the valley, peony and iris with base notes of wood finish, this bouquet will definitely make you smile when you wear it. Who doesn’t want this classic bottle with its luxurious hand-tied bow on their dresser or nightstand?

Anitta x Sol de Janeiro Perfume Mist

Created in collaboration with Brazillian superstar Anitta, like the star herself this scent exudes energy and raw beauty. Fruity and floral with notes of passionfruit and pink patchouli, a spritz of this body fragrance spray will leave you “cheirosa” (smelling incredibly delicious) and make you want to celebrate you, something Anitta encourages her fans to do every day. Anitta also wants to make a difference in the world and use her fame to help others. Her collaboration with Sol de Janeiro will see 5% of all Anitta Perfume Mist sales donated to Pro Crianca Cardiaca, an organization that helps low-income children with heart disease and other medical conditions get the care they need. Amazing!

Maison Margiela 'REPLICA' Autumn Vibes

For those of you who prefer something earthy for the cooler temperatures, Maison Margiela, known for fragrances that make you feel you are actually in the location shown on the bottle, has created Autumn Vibes, evoking a memory of walking in the cool autumn woods. Notes of red berries, cardamom, cedarwood, moss, and peppercorn make this a favourite unisex fragrance for the fall. The classic apothecary-style bottle looks clean, simple, and very cool; you’ll want this one displayed front and centre.

Sauvage Elixir

We can’t report on fragrances for fall without including a new one for men, or for us women who like to sneak our partner's scent from time to time. This earthy and woody scent has notes of citrus, amber wood, and peppery spice, making it the perfect fragrance for the fall season. But be cautious when applying this elixir, it is super concentrated, so a little goes a long way to making you think Jonny Depp, the front person for the fragrance, is in the room.

Fragrance tips and tricks

​​Fragrances are intensified by the warmth of your own body. Apply in the creases of your knees and elbows, inside of your wrists or the nape of your neck for a longer-lasting, stronger scent.

Apply a dab or spritz to your inside wrists and then press them together (don’t rub) for a few moments to activate the fragrance.

Apply a non-scented oil like Moroccanoil or Vaseline to your skin prior to applying your fragrance to extend the scent.

Finally, be mindful of the amount of fragrance you apply. You don’t want people to smell your fragrance before you enter a room, they should just sense a hint of your new fall favourite when you greet them. Lastly, respect workplace rules if they ask for no fragrances at all, scent allergies are a real thing for some people.
