Key Piece: The Romper

fashion

If you had asked us last summer whether we’d consider the romper a Key Piece, we may have been reluctant to categorize such a polarizing trend as essential. But fashion can be fickle, and in that case… so are we. Fast-forward one short year later, and we simply cannot get enough of them. When you pair the simplicity of throwing on a dress with the ease and mobility of shorts, the romper comes out on top as a real closet workhorse. We especially love the versatility of this one, with the longer sleeves and rich, sophisticated print.

Here’s where you might find us wearing our favourite new romper around town this summer:

Wednesday evening @ 7:30pm for Ballet in the Park: When your event feels a little dressy, but you plan to be sprawled out on a blanket, a dress simply won’t do. Enter the romper – perfect for elevating your dress code game without making ground-level seating awkward. And we love how simple summer accessories look great while doing their thing. A cute straw fedora protects from the sun, a modern backpack carries your essentials hands-free, and slide-on wedge sandals make navigating grass effortless.

Friday evening @ 9:30pm for drinks on the courtyard patio at Black Rabbit Bistro Lounge: Summer evenings are notoriously awesome in Winnipeg. The warm air tends to linger long into the evening, leisurely and thick. One of the best ways to stay cool (and look fabulous) for a night out is to show a little leg. The draped shorts on the romper are super flattering, and only made better by a great pair of strappy, heeled sandals. And when the cooler air finally does roll in, no need to head inside – just throw on your favourite leather jacket, and never miss a beat.
