Dress Your Sign: Aquarius

fashion

Capricorn season has officially come and gone, and with it, the no-nonsense approach to starting a new year with new goals. We’re now exiting a pragmatic period and entering into one that’s analytical, but inventive at the same time – much like your favourite Aquarius! It’s time for another round of our Dress Your Sign series – get ready to take a page from this eccentric sign’s playbook and set aside your power suit in favour of throwing out all the fashion rules.

Situated right in the middle of the winter, this fixed Air sign is ruled by Uranus, the planet of change, disruption, and the unconventional. It makes perfect sense that the sign of the water bearer is best known for being open-minded, innovative, and rebellious when it comes to style – and all other aspects of life, too, if we’re being frank.

Although they’re usually up-to-date on all of the latest trends, Aquarius can be quite particular. They know who they are, and what they like — and dress accordingly. This could mean mixing and matching a few trends at once, or it could translate into going in the opposite direction by sticking to a tried-and-true uniform with a fun twist.

So how did we go about picking an outfit for Aquarius? First, we focused on their tendency to gravitate towards style staples by choosing a colourful striped sweatshirt and trusty fleece-lined faux leather jacket. Then, we added some subtle rule-breaking by pairing the stripes with a leopard-print skirt, a trend that’s been going strong for the past few seasons. To finish the look, we added off-beat accessories, like a bright pom pom toque and a mauve mini backpack – so that their hands can be free to scroll through various apps and news outlets. Lastly, no Aquarius outfit is complete without practical shoes (so that they can go from work to protesting the establishment real quick) – cue a pair of timeless leather combat boots.

If you’re an Aquarius, let us know if this look is something you’d reach for, and stay tuned for our dreamy Pisces-inspired look! While you’re waiting for the next sign in the series (and signs of spring!), check out 4 hair trends to try in 2020.
