You may have owned a denim miniskirt in junior high – we certainly did – but in case you haven’t noticed, it’s making a major comeback. Celebs are rocking the denim miniskirt left and right, and we dare you not to find a take on the ‘00s classic in your favourite store. If you’re like us, your denim mini probably went with flip flops and tank tops back then – but how do you wear it again in 2017?! Here’s how we’re making it work with our grownup wardrobe.

A basic white tee is a great place to start – this minimalist staple is classic, simple, and pairs well with literally anything. For an effortlessly cool and slightly edgy effect (think Bella Hadid or Selena Gomez), we chose a lighter wash in the skirt and added black accessories – namely, an embellished bag and killer Chelsea boots. A silk scarf tied around the handbag adds a pop of colour, and this season’s biggest accessory trend, the statement earring, ties it all together. 

If a softer, more feminine approach is more your style (think Taylor Swift or Blake Lively), opt for a cropped jacket with a high-end feel. For this take on the trend, we reached for a skirt in a slightly darker wash with a higher waistline – be sure to tuck the tee to avoid it peeking out from under the jacket. We can thank Gucci for the current craze for slip-on loafers, and this sparkly pair are literally what style dreams are made of. An embroidered handbag in a similar colour palette is the perfect pretty compliment.
