December is officially here, and we have a busy season ahead of us! Between the dinners, parties, and family get-togethers, the time to start thinking about what you’re going to wear is now. Luckily, there's still plenty of time to do some shopping! We’ve incorporated this season’s hottest trends with classic winter staples to give you some serious #ootd inspo. Here are three common holiday outings, and how we like to dress for them.

Family Dinner

We don’t know about you, but we’re over the tacky Christmas sweaters, and feeling like going a little more elegant for family Christmas dinners this year. Truthfully, we may just be looking for any excuse to wear this shoulder-baring sweater of our dreams. Don’t worry – you can totally get away with wearing an off-the-shoulder top to a family party. Just opt for an elegant style in a luxe fabric, then pair it with dress pants to keep the look sophisticated and put together. Finish it off with olive green heels for a pop of colour, and delicate jewellery for that extra level of polish.

Office Party

Your office holiday party is a great opportunity to dress your best and impress your coworkers with your off-duty style. Since the holidays are all about rich hues, opt for a deep wine-coloured skirt to stand out in a sea of little black dresses. This skirt makes a statement all on its own, and a ribbed long-sleeved top plays it cool for an interesting high/low feel. A pair of bold, geometric earrings and two-toned ankle boots are the perfect accessories that are funky enough to pull the whole look together.

Skating Date

If there's one thing you’ve got to do this winter, it's go skating down the Red River Mutual Trail at The Forks. And until the River Trail opens up, there are many outdoor rinks around the city to enjoy as well! We recommend hitting the ice in comfortable basics and warm layers – jeans and a cozy sweater are always a safe bet. The oversized coat helps balance the length of the scarf (and leaves room for layering), and thick wool socks are sure to keep your feet toasty warm.
