How to Wear Texture this Fall

fashion

With cooler weather comes more layering, and more textures to play with! The Fall 2016 runways were chock-full of lacy, velvety, and metallic pieces – and we’ve been dying to mix them into our wardrobe ever since. Adding interesting textures to your look will score you instant fashion cred, and make a simple outfit more interesting. To show you how it’s done, we’ve put together two looks featuring this season’s hottest textures.

Metallic Lamé
Reflective fabrics and sparkly metallics have been gaining steam since the spring, and are only going to become more prominent this fall. To add some sparkle to your look, choose one key piece and let it be the focal point of your outfit. We fell head-over-heels for this reflective lamé skirt as soon as we saw it. Lamé is an interesting texture that you don’t see every day, and it works especially well for dressier occasions. A crisp white shirt and classic black oxfords create a nice contrast to balance out the blinginess of the skirt.

Suede
Step outside your comfort zone and experiment with wearing suede this fall. Suede can be worn year-round, and is surprisingly affordable for such a luxurious-looking fabric. For a fashion-forward take on the trend, we mixed two suede pieces in the same colour family. If you want something more subtle, you could easily rock these as separates – try the suede pencil skirt with a striped blouse and a pair of ankle boots. Bonus points if you mix in another texture like leather or a knit! Any way you take it, an olive green Matt & Nat bag is the perfect finishing touch.
