Style Guide: Summer Jewellery

When dealing with heat and humidity, there’s a whole new set of things to consider while picking out accessories. Will it leave awkward tan lines? Can you go swimming without it rusting? Is it comfortable, even when you’re sweating? But fret not – this season is all about delicate touches that will add a little sparkle to your look, without going overboard. To simplify the shopping process, we've narrowed in on the coolest trends that every fashion-girl needs in her collection.

If you haven’t noticed, the septum ring trend is huge right now. They are easy to wear, and make a statement without taking up any real estate on your body. (Don’t worry, there are plenty of fake ones in the Centre if you don’t have a piercing!) While we reached for chunky bangles in the winter, now is the time to opt for skinny cord or braided bracelets and midi rings that aren’t too tight against the skin. The same goes for chokers. If you’re going to rock this accessory, save the thick velvet collars for cooler temps, and try dangly rope styles instead. Can’t be bothered with necklaces? Light arm chains are the next best thing – and you’ll be giving Rihanna a run for her money.

For those of you who can't stand the heat, a chic bandana is both a stylish accessory and a practical tool for wiping off sweat throughout the day. And who could forget metallic tattoos? With Folk Fest starting up, it’s the perfect time to bust out temporary anklets that won’t get lost or leave any awkward tan lines.
