3 Easy, On-Trend Ways to Style Curly Hair

beauty

If you were blessed with a head of gorgeous curly hair, you need to do everything you can to show it off! To get you inspired to go beyond the go-to topknot, we enlisted our hair pro Justin Broesky from St. Vital Unisex to show us three of his current favourite styles for all you lucky curly-haired gals out there.

1) The high pony

This year’s it hairstyle has got to be the high pony, and Rihanna’s curly version was next-level. To achieve this style, start by gathering your hair at the top of your head and securing with a hair elastic. Avoid brushing too much so you don’t create any frizz. The secret to Rihanna’s look is the forward-falling curls – use bobby pins to pin pieces of hair forward, then secure your look with hairspray – and voilà!

2) Elegant up-do

We know… anything that involves multiple bobby pins and includes the word “up-do” can be intimidating, but this style is much easier than it looks. Start by sectioning your hair into three, and tie the back middle section into a low pony. Next, loosely twist one of the side sections and cross it over the ponytail, pinning into place. Repeat this on the other side. Lastly, roll your ponytail through the tiny gap in between the two sections. That’s it! It might take a bit of practice, but once you have it down, we promise it’ll be your new go to.

3) Braided side

Start with a deep side part. Divide the hair on the lighter side into three equal sections and pin the top two sections out of the way. One at a time, french braid each small section, securing the ends. Once you’ve finished braiding, go back along each braid and gently tug at the pieces so the your braids look a little further and a bit messy.
